Contract Management
Westminster experience
Our Westminster team lead by Roy Scotton - General Manager is
based at 7 Millbank and has regular, daily contact with Officers of
Parliament, committee clerks, and other personnel from the House of
Commons, the House of Lords and various departments. In all
situations, the policy of Bow Tie television is to
supply the highest level of service - whether that is in the
provision of broadcast facilities, answering technical enquiries or
resolving television and webcam questions. These responses
not only involve a high quality, but also the fastest possible
reaction to meet the most demanding of needs.
Bow Tie television has been involved with the
broadcasting of Parliament since 1989. As a measure of the
strength of the company, several members of staff have remained
since those early days. In fact, turnover of staff across the
company is low, resulting in an air of stability and continuity of
standards.
On a regular basis, the company has introduced new systems that
have improved day to day working practices within the television
broadcasting environment at Westminster. In most cases, these
enhancements have been the result of proactive developments brought
about by regular feedback from management and staff based at 7
Millbank.
More recently, the company won - through a competitive tendering
process - the contract to design, install and commission the
unattended web camera system in ten committee rooms at
Westminster. That contract has now been extended to increase
the number of rooms equipped in this way.
In addition, the parliamentary operation maintains relationships
with the various international news agencies that work in and
around the Palace of Westminster and deals on a daily basis with
lines bookings and clip play outs to clients all round the
world.
GLA experience
Three years ago, Bow Tie television replaced -
through a competitive tender - the incumbent AV Contractor to
provide broadcast video and audio, audio-visual, videoconferencing,
webstreaming and signage facilities for the Greater London
Authority (GLA). This operation - which has been praised by
GLA contract managers - provides facilities which are very similar
to those outlined in this current Parliament tender
specification.
Of special note, Bow Tie television has
developed staff who are multi-skilled and can handle any aspect of
the GLA operation. This has resulted in the ability to
facilitate successfully client demands at very short notice.
Part of this operation involves co-ordination with various
departments within City Hall to take bookings, and provide
equipment, facilities and staff, for a wide variety of audio,
audio-visual and videoconferencing requirements, both within the
facility and at remote locations. It is part of our
contractual obligation that we ensure the facilities are sourced in
the most cost effective manner.
It is a matter of record that Bow Tie
television is the sole contractor at the GLA which has
never failed to meet its Key Performance Indicators.
